NOBODY SAID IT WOULD BE EASY

School has been a very long ride. I went through 12 full years of uniform and the ride just kept on getting harder on the way. Varsity has also given me its fair share of strain. It has however also given me a few memorable moments that I will always cherish. My first year of University was 2 years back. I felt like a little fish in the sea when I arrived. Of course on the first day I got lost for a large percentage of my time. I was late for all my lectures that first week! As time went on, I adapted to the new environment; which made 2nd year a lot easier to deal with.
Third year however, has been feeling exactly like first year. This year, I am expected to complete a Portfolio of Evidence through a Work Integrated Learning experience. This means, getting hired into an organisation and practically applying what I have learnt in my lectures. Trying to get a placement gave me a lot of stress because it was not as easy as I thought it would be. I had to fix up my Curriculum Vitae and send it to different organisations I potentially saw as employers.  I went to every Career Advise assistance method I could possibly think of! I consulted Career Consultants, Career Advice webpages and Career Journals and magazines. This made me realise just how easy it is to misrepresent yourself to companies.

GOT THE JOB!

When I received an interview; I was truly thankful and knew I had to work at making sure I am correctly and professionally presented to the company. Preparation is key; therefore I made sure I projected myself in a way that was presentable and professional. Do I look good enough? Do I sound professional enough? All these questions ran through my mind until I finally decided to stay calm and just be myself! In all honesty, I believe that is what helped me break away from any nerves that could cause me to make mistakes. Preparation+ Confidence in myself and the job; an equation I truly believe led to me GETTING THE JOB!

In all realness; we might not get a response to every job post we apply for. We could get rejected on one, two, three or even more applications. However; I believe that giving up is never an option when you want to succeed, because when you work hard for what you need to achieve there will be rewards in the end! I taught myself to not only see the negative in situations I am faced with in the workplace or at school because; there is a positive lesson in all of them! At the end of the day, I am still learning and growing. Therefore every day is a lesson on a brand new chapter.
